I call these small groups "Care Clusters" and hope that in the event of a disaster they will serve as temporary communes and places of refuge that enable people to share their resources and skills effectively, because they will have been organized to do so IN ADVANCE. I also hope that these "clusters" can become outreach vehicles for people who may have less of whatever is needed. This kind of small group organization could be used anywhere, San Francisco, Hawai'i...

Here in the Bay Area, for all our progressiveness, we are still largely segregated on the basis of race, economic status, culture (look at all our hip culture "Tribes!"), etc. and those of us with "some" or "more" are not often thinking of those with "even less." I am haunted by the idea that here, as in New Orleans, a massive disaster will result in a far larger amount of suffering among those with "even less."

So, please come join this tribe and apply your awareness and energy to the problem(s) of local community organizing and disaster planning. You'll be warmly welcomed.
***

Hey everyone... I'd like to know what everyone thinks of this and hear people's experiences, knowledge, ideas etc...

At our gathering coming up in may, we're focusing our Intent on personal power and change. This is an exerpt from our webpage:

"With each new year comes new thoughts, changing potential, shifting, surging energies, and new directions and challenges, both within our individual lives and within our global community. One of our goals with Spring Gathering is to live and grow in tandem with these changing energies to provide a new-formed vessel each year that is not separate from the greater world, but is a part of its movement –and of our individual movement. This Gathering is a powerful magical tool. It is our Intent to refocus its power for magic and healing each year so that it may impact our daily lives and breathe new life and positive change into the world spirit.

This year our focus is on our own individual potential, our dreams and goals and on our own personal power. It ’s a question on everyone ’s tongue: What are the barriers that keep us from reaching anywhere near our real potential? How can we be so free and yet so captive in our lives? What can we do to break these cycles? We ’re living at a critical point in human history. What we do now matters and it ripples outward in a billion directions. How do we create a strong sympathetic wave of change to manifest our dreams and goals? How do we create a strong sympathetic wave of change to manifest our dreams and goals? How do we create the positive change we seek within our lives?"

What I want to know is: do you feel that we're coming up on one of the most important times in human history, or is this just the feeling because *we're* the ones alive now? Do you feel a shift in global consciousness and the energy rising? How does this manifest in your own life? What have you seen and experienced that has made you believe or feel this or not believe or feel this?

Also, I'm wondering, do you feel held back from your own personal goals and dreams in life, and what is it that holds you back? How do you see one person having the potential to change not only themselves but the entire world for positive good?

Something that's on my mind lately.. I heard somewhere that scientists somehow have annually measured the "vibrational frequency" of the entire globe and over the last 20 years or so it's increased like 10 fold or something. I don't know the science behind what they're talking about per se, but it begs the question... are we on the cusp of a whole new consciousness? And does anyone know what's up with this vibration story? I only heard it from some one didn't read it or anything so I don't really know much about it...
Hey folks. I am putting this out on many different tribes post to invite as many people over as possible. The tribe is called Renaissance Farms and the idea behind it is to get people connected. We have let too many politicians and corporate types run things for too long. I wasn't a big Dean supporter but it shows what you can do with the internet and a little imagination.

I am going to use this tribe and a website that I am currently working on to try and connect a LARGE group of like minded people together. (From Left to FAR Left, Libertarian, Progressives, Dems and Open Minded Republicans (yes they do exist) although all views are welcome as long as they aren't hateful) That way we can help each other out. Examples would be that when someone works to get things done politically and socially then you will already have a base of people to start with that could be interested in the issue.(Yes we already have some sites like these but I have not found any that are anywhere comprehensive enough)

PLUS, I THINK THAT WE CAN TAKE A LOT OF THE ECONOMIC POWER BACK. The idea is to to keep the money within the group(or demographic or tribe or among people that vote similiarly or whatever you want to call it).. I am going to set up a website for the state of Ohio that will be a kind of directory of liberal links and businesses that are owned by people with a more left leaning attitude. THE LESS MONEY THAT WE GIVE TO THE RIGHT THE BETTER. There are an endless number of organizations and businesses in each state but they have never been put into one place. So I will get numbers and contact info from people like Stonewall and environmental groups, Unitarian churches, NPR affiliates and other organizations and every kind of business that I can think of. The GLBT community has the Lavender pages (some are the Pink pages). Same concept. So now I need to start compiling a list of these groups and places. If you know any please start a list and pass it on and I will make contact to get all of the necessary info. It will take some time to get a pretty comprehensive site going but I will keep the members of Renaissance Farms notified of progress as I go. I have posted to see if there are people in other Ohio cities that can help. Then once it is up and running it can be a place for people to find service providers and organizations. Make connections. And eventually it can be more. There are some pages similar to this but I want this to be more comprehensive and then connect to similar ones from different states under an umbrella site. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS A REAL MARKETING BLITZ SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE SITE IS THERE AND WHAT IT WOULD DO FOR THEM. We can use conventional marketing to get the word out. Things like the Alternative Papers. Booths at festivals and Bumperstickers. If you have a website or business that you want to advertise, or a CD or a band to promote then you already would have a group of like minded people that might be interested in hearing about it. How many people do you know that are trying to run painting companies or freelance web design so that they can control their time and spend more with their families? How often would one sale make the difference between their staying in business or not. The stronger each individual is the stronger the whole. If a person has more time, money and less stress then there is a better chance that they will work to improve their community and world. I would prefer to give them my business than give it to someone that I have no connection with. This is a way to economic and political power. We have to take care of each other just as the Conservatives have. Ours can be a community with all ethnicities and creeds, orientations and leanings. All that matters is an open mind. And the stronger each individual is in the community the stronger the community.

If you know anyone else that might be interested then pass along the info. The bigger it gets the more power it will have to change things.

Peace
Mark Twain said, "Those of you who are inclined to worry have the widest selection in history."
Why complain? Try to do something about it - you know, it's [been] goin' on nine months now, since I decided that I was gonna declare that I am a candidate for the presidency of the United States.
Shopped around for a party.
Well, I looked at the Republicans. Decided talking to a conservative is like talking to your refrigerator.
You know, the light goes on, the light goes off, it's not gonna do anything that isn't built into it.
But I'm not gonna talk to a conservative any more than I talk to my damn refrigerator.
Working for the Democratic party, now, that's kind of like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
"I created my own political party: it's called the Sloth and Indolence Party. Yes I am going to run.
I've studied the presidency carefully. I have seen that our best presidents were the do- nothing presidents: Millard Fillmore, Warren G. Harding.
When you have a president who does things we are all in serious trouble.
If he does anything at all: if he gets up at night to go to the bathroom, somehow, mystically, trouble will ensue.
I guarantee that if I am elected, I will take over the White House, hang out, shoot pool, scratch my ass, and not do a damn thing. Which is to say: if you want something done, don't come to me do it for you, you gotta get together and figure out how to do it yourselves. Is that a deal? "

As many prepare for “The World Still Says NO to War” on March 20th let us reconsider future mobilization tactics, possibly more effective change would come out of a focus of wide spread outreach. Imagine the potential,1000’s of groups of 1-100 activists actually conversing and sharing non-conflictive strategically bias informational sources throughout cities, in neighborhoods, wherever people are open and receptive. Creating innovative ways to interact with the public, instead of isolating and confining ourselves to tax-paid police barricaded scheduled events that you are arrested if you don’t go home when the protest is over? Last years “TWSNTW” was overwhelmingly awe inspiring, 15-30 million world wide strongly uniting before a pre-emptive strike occurred was historical for the anti-war movement and as New York Times said “…there may still be two superpowers on the planet: the United States and world public opinion.” .
Peaceful protests, motivational speakers, innovative signs, candlelight vigils all have there place but maybe Now is the time that we reach out to the masses, the borderline, on the fence majority that the Bush Administrations actions have created a bridge for us to welcome people to cross. From the beginning of the (s)election, finger pointing of 9-11, the already written and immediate enforcement of Patriotic Act 1&2, false links of Iraq to Al-Quedi, to the lies of WMD, and recently the Constitutional Amendment Protecting Marriage. These actions have enraged copious amounts of individuals, groups, sects, nationalities, cultures, etc. to “unite” as a nation against our leaders? Environmentalists, scientists, economists, teachers, activists, artists, movie makers, nurses/doctors, veterans, soldiers, mothers, fathers, elders, to children in massively networked communities, associations, organizations like GLBT, NPCA, UCS, FTFA, CREW, NRDC, DEN, U.S. PIRG, USAction, Care2, ANSWER, MoveOn, and on and on…
We are possibly at the brink of the most crucial (s)election in the history of America and the outcome will ultimately affect the fate of the world. So as we March On let us freely distribute our “independent” news sources, through the gift of technology we are blessed with the actual “freedom” to find a plethora of multi-faceted opinions, perceptions, articles, current events, news etc. on the World Wide Web. Encourage people everyday in everyway to become aware of all the spectrums of the paradox then decide what you believe. So as I become you and you become me let us decide what we shall become.

Please pass this on if you resonate with the intention, post it anywhere and everywhere. Feel free to edit, alter, change to better express your message. If this gets around enough we can begin organizing events based around the simple concept of distributing solution based information.
